Merry Christmas......

Well, Christmas was a complete and total success!!!! Full of laughter, inside jokes, candid photos, and lots of memories. What I love about Christmas with my family is the ability to make a joke out of anything. We forgot to buy propane for the fried turkey, so we just put that sucker in the oven the old fashioned way and broiled it. It turned out to be the best dish on the menu. Kinda like when life gives you lemon, just make a killing on selling lemonade. Well, that's what stood out the most for me this holiday. You may not have everything you want, but God has given you all that you need. More than anything, God has people in your life to help you get through it all. So this holiday season, remember to cherish those you love and always cherish the moments you share with them!

Gifts already opened....

So, my family tradition is to open gifts up at midnight on Christmas because we are always up feeding the homeless on Christmas day. And we are already done! Lol. This is the most exciting part of the day. Everyone in sitting in their Christmas work clothes, flour in our hair, bleach on our shirts, no make up, just our plain ol' selves. We sit around in our perspectives seats in the living room and act like little kids waiting on what each other bought. It is soooooo much fun! Of course I had nothing specific on my list that I wanted, because I've pretty much bought it all through out the year! And I'm sure they couldn't fit an Infiniti Truck and a REAL MAN in gift box. .. lol.. So I settled for a new limited edition Louie, a crazy J.Simpson bag, money , a cordless glue gun, and of course MORE JEWELRY~ !

I couldn't be happier! God has made a way yet again. When you believe God for the smallest things is when your heart is filled with the most expectation. Things end up being just great. God's way of saying he's got your back and is still in control. I just love it... and I just love Christmas.

What to get a girl who has everything?

Ok, is it just me or do you get tired of the cop out of people (men in general), that say they have no idea what to buy you? Yea, I have hundreds of shoes. Yea, I have handbags gallore. Yea, yea, yea. Guess what? None of that matters if I have to always buy them for myself.

The best gift in the world is the one you don't expect and often the one that cost the least amount of money. Calm down. Not some cheap thoughtless gift, but a gift that comes from the heart and everytime you look at it, you think of that person. In this economy, that's probably the best option anyway. We are really in a day and age that money has lost its value. What matters most is the people that you love and how they feel about you.

Gone are the days where lavish gifts should be anticipated or even demanded. We "fly girls" should stop worrying about price tags and appreciate the effort, love, and sacrafice that went into the gift giving. When you turn on the TV, there is always someone or an entire family hurting. We should all be so grateful to experience happiness on this Chritsmas Day. Whether the happiness is big or small, we are still so fortunate.

Ok, my hallmark moment is over (for now), but think about all the things that you are blessed with this Christmas and all of those who may not.

~ Flyness and blessings....

All of this for a few hours.....

Well, it's that time again. Time flies when you're living. I guess. So, I have been slaving alllllllllllllllllllllll day making chocolate chip cookies, red velvet & pound cakes, 2 types of mac n cheese, seasoned the turkey, and prepared the ham. And to think, it will all be over in a few hours. Crazy huh?

Maybe not. When I look back over the years at all of my Christmases, the preparation is where all the learning has taken place. So many life lessons take place in the kitchen. Patience, endurance, adventure, learning the value of paying attention, passing of family traditions, and the list goes on. It seems every time I am in the kitchen, I learn something new. It's one thing to watch the Food Network all day, but to actually be doing it myself, is an entire different story.

As I prepare for yet another holiday gathering, I am eternally grateful for the experience. The family laughter and tears, the suspense of gifts that I didn't expect, the crazy family member that does something random, watching people enjoy my carefully prepared dishes, and most importantly, seeing another Christmas take off with a bang!

So this holiday, be grateful for the little things. Whether it be swollen feet from hours of preparation, or simply a pound cake that comes out of the baking dish without sticking! lol. Enjoy this day, enjoy your family, and enjoy being you.

Merry Christmas (Eve)... :-)
